have the honour to ask Your Excellency to be good enough to obtain fer my son Harry Christopher Irevere Compertz a nomination for the Civil Service. He was born in May 1898.
He obtained a Winchester Scholarship at the age of 12 and was before leaving a Senior Prefect.
In 1916 he was bracketted equal fom the Senior Winchester Scholarship at New College Oxford, he also holds a Winchester Exhibition to the University. Last yea” he ma8 gazetted a 2nd Lieutenant in the Royal Field artillery and he is now attached to the Royal Flying Come.
I may mention that the boy was for two years Captain of "Cellege" football at Winchester and fem ene year
a bergeunt in the School Officers' Training Cerne.
On his record he might hope for a successful
career at Oxford, but after a year in the Army he tells me that
he has no desire to go back to academic work, but would rather
begin to earn his own living when the war is over.
I have to.,
(sd.) H.H.J.Gompertz,
His "xoellency
Sir Henry May, K.G.M.G., &0., &0.,
